There Is Nothing To Celebrate About Independence — Bobi Wine

1 Mins read

National Unity Platform President, Robert Kyagulanyi who is famously known as Bobi Wine has revealed that there is nothing to celebrate on our 61st independence anniversary because as a nation. We are not independent.

He said that the party members would instead gather at their offices in Kamwokya to pray for comrades killed in the struggle.

“While dictator Museveni and his cronies will gather in Kitgum tomorrow to ‘celebrate independence’, we shall gather at our offices in Kamwokya to pray for our comrades killed by the regime, those who were abducted and are still missing, as well as those in illegal detention,” said Bobi Wine on X.

He further said; “We shall reaffirm that there is NOTHING TO CELEBRATE about independence because we are not independent!

“It was simply a change of guard from white colonialists to black colonialists who have done even worse.

“As Museveni and his small group gather to celebrate the loot and plunder of our nation for almost fourty years, we shall be joined by the families of the victims of repression to remember their loved ones – the dead, the disappeared and the detained.

“We shall dedicate a session to the missing journalist Sesanga Batte, who was abducted by regime operatives a few days ago and he remains missing.”

Uganda will tomorrow celebrate her 61st independence anniversary in Kitgum district.

The Chief Guest will be His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the President of Uganda.

He will be joined by all Ugandans and dignitaries including a special delegation from the United Arab Emirates led by their Minister of State for foreign affairs.

41 individuals will be honoured with national medals for their extraordinary roles they have performed in uplifting Uganda.
