Museveni, Kiir Discuss Uganda South Sudan Border Security

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni today held a Meeting with Salva Kiir of South Sudan where they discussed issues of mutual interest.

The meeting was held at State House-Entebbe and attended by Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Henry Okello Oryem, and ESO Director General Ambassador Joseph Ocwet.

The South Sudan delegation included Hon. Barnaba Marial Benjamin -Minister of Presidential Affairs, Hon. Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro- Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Hon. Dr. James Pitia Morgan- Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, among others.

It Should be noted that recently Fear gripped many Ugandans residing along the Uganda-South Sudan border, as South Sudanese authorities assert their claim over more than 20 villages in Kerwa and Kochi sub-counties within Yumbe district

The affected households are in Kaboro A, Keriwa, Kaboro B, Tiria, Sokokobidri, Pasara, Junjubita, Mafuu, Ujuruko, Milia, Koloro, Woroworo, Oloko and Tinji villages all in Kerwa sub-county.

Meanwhile, in Kochi sub-county, the villages that are being claimed by South Sudanese authorities include Fitina Mbaya, Alema, Milia, Feyo, and Gobiri.

James Gale, the LC 3 vice chairperson for Kerwa sub-county, explains that over the past few months, South Sudanese authorities have been forcibly allocating land to their people in the affected villages deep inside Uganda.
