Col Fred Mwesigye Presents Credentials To Mauritius President As New Uganda Envoy To Port Louis

H.E. Amb. Col (Rtd) Fred Mwesigye (L), presented his Letters of Credence to H.E. Prithvirajsing Roopun

On Wednesday 2nd August 2023, H.E. Ambassador Col (Rtd) Fred Mwesigye, presented his Letters of Credence to H.E. Prithvirajsing Roopun, President of the Republic of Mauritius, at State House, Le Rèduit, Port Louis.

He was accompanied by his Spouse, Mrs. Enid Mwesigye, the Counsellor, Ms. Connie R. Nuwagaba and the Administrative Attachè, Ms. Jennifer Asiimwe.

After receiving the Letters of Credence, H.E. the President held a brief meeting with H.E. the High Commissioner, during which he warmly welcomed him and his delegation to Mauritius.

The High Commissioner in turn appreciated H.E. the President for the warm reception and delivered warm greetings and best wishes from H.E. the President of the Republic of Uganda.

Their discussions focused on Bilateral Relations, Regional and International matters of interest to both countries, Cooperation in Education, Agriculture, Air Services, Trade and Tourism among others.

They reiterated the need to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries using all the available channels, improving connectivity between Uganda and Mauritius as well considering joint financing of trade infrastructure.

The High Commissioner appreciated the Government of Mauritius for the scholarships offered to Ugandan Students and looked forward to further cooperation in the Education Sector.

In conclusion, H.E. President Roopun wished the High Commissioner a successful tenure as Uganda’s High Commissioner to Mauritius and pledged to offer him all the requisite support in execution of the mission entrusted to him. He also extended warm regards to H.E. The President of the Republic of Uganda.

The presentation of Letters of Credence Ceremony to H.E. the President was proceeded by the presentation of Copies of Letters of Credence to the Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Joyker Nayeck, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade.
