Ethiopian Airlines Scoops Two Nominations For Prestigious Air Cargo News Awards

Africa’s sky giant, Ethiopian Airlines, has been nominated for the Air Cargo News Awards 2023 in two categories.

The prestigious awards touted as the “Oscars of the freight industry,” are now in their 39th year.

Ethiopian Airlines has been nominated in the categories of; Best Cargo Airline-Africa’ and ‘Cargo Airline of the Year’.

The awards this year, will take place at the Hilton London Syon Park on Thursday October 12.

According to industry experts, winning the award is a sign of being a market leader and recognises the hard work of team members, helping to inspire future performance.

Ethiopian was at the forefront in distributing medical supplies during the COVID-19 global pandemic. The airline played a leading role in the distribution of PPEs in the wake of the pandemic, and continued its global cargo service to transport vaccines and test kits worldwide.

Housed within the largest trans-shipment terminal in Africa, the state-of-the-art Pharma Wing of Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics Services, was central to the airline’s effective and efficient handling and shipping of medical supplies across the world.

Ethiopian is the largest cargo network operator in Africa and one of the major global cargo carriers with a modern warehouse of 1million tons storage capacity.

Ethiopian Airlines, formerly Ethiopian Air Lines, is the flag carrier of Ethiopia, and is wholly owned by the country’s government. EAL was founded on 21 December 1945 and commenced operations on 8 April 1946, expanding to international flights in 1951.
