FULL LIST: Link Bus Accident Victims Identified

Police in Kyenjojo District have revealed the identities of the people who sustained injuries following a crash that involved a Link bus.

On Tuesday night, the bus registration number  UAY485E rammed into a stationary trailer registration number UAV 326W which carrying logs along the Fort Portal-Kampala highway in Mukunyu trading Center, Kyenjojo District.

Dauda Kawuwa, 50 the driver of the bus died on the spot while several passengers sustained injuries.

Vincent Twesige, the  Rwenzori West Police Spokesperson identified the casualties as Jamila Kabakama, Angela Natukunda, Christine Mbabazi,  Emmanuel Mulisa,  Rwamimi Namaganda, Regina Ojulong,   Ester Ipwate, Irene Katusabe, and Zulaika Biira.

Balaam Kyamanywa, the Kyenjojo Hospital  Supritendant told URN that the hospital received 11 casualties, however five were on  Wednesday morning referred to Fort Portal Regional Referal Hospital as they had sustained serious leg fractures.

He adds that the six that remained at Kyenjojo Hospital have minor injuries and are recovering steadily.

By press time,  the identities of the other two victims had not yet been identified.

  Twesige says that the bus has been towed to Kyenjojo Central Police station while the trailer is  still at the scene as investigations continue to find out the cause of the accident.
