Kato Lubwama, the former Rubaga South MP Kato Lubwama is dead, ug Mirror reports

Kato is said to have died of a heart attack on Tuesday night at Stana medical centre in Bunamwaya.

Who is Kato Lubwama?

Kato Lubwama aka Bisso was a Ugandan politician, drama actor, musician, songwriter, comedian, former radio presenter and businessman. Lubwama was so passionate about music, theatre plays, and helping the needy.

He did educative drama, pointing out issues concerning bwananchi against the government. He did revolutionary plays based on changing societies.

Education Background

Kato Lubwama born on 16, August 1970, completed his primary seven (PLE) in 1983, at Nabagereka Primary School.

1988 Lubwama sat for his Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) in at Old Kampala Secondary School.

1991-1992, Lubwama obtained his Special University Entry Examination, Certificate Other, at Makerere University Kampala.

1994, Lubwama obtained a Diploma in Music, Dance and Drama, at Makerere University Kampala.

Work Experience

Kato Lubwama was the Director of Royal Theater since 2010, and a drama actor.

Director, Diamonds Ensemble, since 1994.

 Director Image Africa, since 1999.

Member of Parliament, Rubaga South Constituency from 2016 till 2021.

Kato Lubwama the former Rubaga South Member of Parliamentbelieved his first term of office was for him to eat, and then his second term would be for him to eat with his voters.

However, unfortunately, Lubwama did not make it to parliament for the second term; he lost the vote to a National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate, Aloysius Charlton Mukasa in the 2021 general elections.

In the run-up to the 2016 general elections, Lubwama was quoted asking voters to send him to Parliament, so that he can also ‘eat’ on that money, given to the legislators.

Kato Lubwama who contested as an independent candidate says he left DP because of its corrupt officials. They formed a pressure group titled ‘Solida’ derived from the word solidarity, and their mission is to regain the former glory of DP.

He was so passionate about DP, so he could not leave for another party.

Earlier, Habib Buwembo, a voter in Lubaga South challenged Lubwama’s 2016 election for lack of legitimate academic documents, arguing that the legislator connived with Makerere University and was admitted in 1992 for a diploma in Music and Drama yet he hadn’t obtained the minimum mature age which is 25.

In his argument, Buwembo noted that Lubwama was 22 years at that time, three years below the minimum age for mature entry.

Buwembo said the legislator lacks the Primary Leaving, Uganda Certificate of Education (PLE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) documents (or their equivalent) to enable him to attain a parliament job.

Songs

Kato Lubwama was a musician who released songs like Tulye, Tetunakuta, Bank Yebyama, Abantu Bazibu, Akanaku and Dimitinya and recently on September 25, 2020, Tetunakuta meaning “We are not yet satisfied”.

Family

Kato Lubwama is married to Ann Namuwonge, and together they have six children. However, some children are from Lubwama’s other relationships.
