General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has declared that he will replace President Yoweri Museveni as leader of Uganda.
Muhoozi who is also President Museveni’s son and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, made the declaration on Wednesday.
“I will be President of Uganda after my father. Those fighting the truth will be very disappointed!!! I will organise and make our country great as Almighty God always intended it to be !!!” Muhoozi said.
Uganda will hold her next general elections in 2026. Although Museveni has not declared his interest to contest again, a group of supporters is urging him to stay course as Uganda’s leader.
Bobi Wine, a musician and politician is seen as the main challenger of Museveni and is the leader of the National Unity Platform.Wine first declared his presidential bid in 2019 but lost to Museveni in the 2021 elections.
