Office of the National Chairman -NRM (ONC) coordinators aka Bazzukulu are in buoyant mood after a list with their names was released by the office.
On Sunday, ONC mouthpiece, Ibrahim Kitatta released the list of 130 coordinators in a tweet that was greeted with pledges to work on the given task. ONC is headed by Hajjati Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye.
The list came on the heels of a 3-day orientation symposium in which they received received lectures from some the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party senior leaders including 1st National Vice Chairman Al-hajji Moses Kigongo, David Mafabi, head of Political intelligence ISO- Afande Frank Banana, State House Controller- Madam Jane Barekye among others.
Drawn from different regions across the country, the list also includes an army of social media enthusiasts.
Their task involves monitoring implementation of the NRM manifesto, overseeing government programs like emyooga, Parish Development Model in addition to waging war on the evil that is corruption.
As part of the package to help ease their work, President Yoweri Museveni who is also the National Chairman NRM, gifted them with brand new smart phones, laptops and a monthly stipend.
During the handover of the laptops and phones, Hajjati Hadijah aka Chief Muzzukulu, emphasized the need to fight corruption.
“Reports are needed because the president wants to know what those technocrats are doing. He gets little time with them to know their lies. He has now sent his troops (ONC coordinators) to do the job,” she said.
She added, “Your role is to monitor government programmes and service delivery at the local government. The president thought it will be important to give you these gadgets to ease your work.”
The coordinators aka bazzukulu have been sharing their excitement at the new opportunity on microblogging site twitter.
