Government Decries Increased Anti Microbial Resistance To Drugs

The permanent secretary at the ministry of Health, Dr. Diana Atwine has decried the increased Anti Microbial resistance to drugs.

She made the remarks at a function where the ambassador of Germany to Uganda Mathias Scheuer handed over an assortment of  ICU equipments worth 163,000 Euros to Kiruddu Hospital.

 Atwine expressed a lot of gratitude to the donors, adding that the equipment will go along way with saving the lives of the citizens.

Atwine hailed Kiruddu hospital for spearheading the fight against misuse of antibiotics.

Atwine explained that the continued prescription of antibiotics by health practitioners is not only bad for the wellbeing of people using them but also has serious general problem to the country’s health system.

 The director Kiruddu Hospital Dr. Charles Kabugo expressed happiness for the support extended to them, adding that they will ensure its proper management.

 He asked for continued collaborations especially in capacity building.
