Headteacher Flees over Failure to Register Students After Taking their Money

1 Mins read

Police in Busoga East are hunting for Godfrey Musasizi, the headteacher of Bugobi Modern Secondary School, located in Bugobi town council of Namutumba district, over failure to register senior four students for UCE exams.

It is reported that Modern SS lacks a center number and Musasizi instructed candidates to pay a fee of 250,000 Shillings each, which was meant to secure their registration from a neighbouring government school.

However, only three students were registered at Nkono Secondary school, in Ivukula sub-county, Namutumba district, whereas 14 others were shocked to be denied entry to the examination room on Monday morning.

One of the students says that Musasizi assured them that he had concluded efforts of registering the senior four candidates at Nkono SS and he instructed them to buy school uniforms of the same school.

“Mr. Musasizi instructed our parents to buy school uniforms, after assuring us that he had concluded the registration processes, now I am shocked that most of our names don’t appear on the registration sheets of Nkono SS,” he says.

The district education officer of Namutumba, Mohammed Isiiko says that available information indicates that Musasizi had submitted the names of all 17 candidates for registration, but paid for only three students.

Isiiko adds that, when consulted about the anomaly, Musasizi switched off his known phone numbers and they have resolved to hand the matter over to police for further investigations.

Meanwhile, the Busoga East police spokesperson, Diana Nandawula says that inquiries are ongoing and the suspect when arrested, will be charged with obtaining money through false pretense.
