The State Minister for Economic Monitoring, Peter Ogwang has urged the youth to take advantage of the available government programmes to avoid being misled by self-seeking politicians and to also be productive in their activities.
“The government has availed several programmes to enable you to engage in productive income-generating activities. Take advantage of them to avoid being lied to by these politicians who don’t have your interests at heart,” Ogwang said.
The minister was on Friday meeting a total number of 800 youth from the four sub-counties of Gogonyo county at Kaukura Primary School playgrounds in Kaukura sub-county.
Ogwang urged the youth and the people of Gogonyo County to stay focused and support the government since their main objective as the party in leadership is ensuring that every Ugandan joins the money economy starting from the household level.
“As far as development is concerned, I am here to entirely support the NRM party and am happy our flag bearer invited us to talk to the young people, of which I am well conversant,” he said.
The NRM director for mobilisation, Rosemary Nansubuga Sseninde said that the National Chairman Yoweri Kaguta Museveni had directed the Party maintains Derrick Orone as the flagbearer for Gogonyo County to enable him to complete his five-year term.
“What we have to make very clear is that we have come to fight for the flagbearer, we have come to fight for NRM to win this election. We, therefore, do not want to divide our people. we can’t afford to leave our people divided, that’s the reason the Chairman of the Party met with Issa Taligoola to step aside and give way for the current flag bearer so that he can come in 2026,” Sseninde stressed.
