The NRM Director of Communication, Emmanuel Lumala Dombo on Thursday convened and facilitated a meeting of the Kisoro district NRM Executive Committee (DEC) and deliberated on several issues pertaining to the preparations of leaders and the party ahead of the Bukimbiri by-election.
In his communication, Dombo commended the people of Kisoro for the overwhelming love and support of the ruling party and its National Chairman and President Yoweri Museveni.
“I want to thank the people of Kisoro for being united and for supporting the NRM. The party does not take it for granted,” Dombo said.
He appealed to the leaders of Kisoro to keep calm amidst provocations and respect one another by ignoring saboteurs and self-seekers who want to use the party to fulfil their personal interests.
Dombo called upon legible voters to visit their respective polling stations to update and crosscheck their details with the Independent Electoral Commission officials.
The former Minister and current NRM Chairman Kisoro district, Philemon Mateke urged disgruntled leaders who may not be on good terms with fellow leaders to desist from any forms of propaganda and blackmail that is likely to undermine party spirit and end up dividing ordinary people.
“I would like to ask all leaders to respect their colleagues and the NRM party which is bigger than all of us. Our party wishes and ambitions should prevail over and above personal disagreements if we are to achieve victory. Our people of Kisoro have been mentally liberated and therefore cannot be trapped into politics of trivialities and divisionism,” Mateke said.
He also described Kwizera as one of the most hardworking leaders compared to the little time he had spent in parliament.
Kwizera for the last year in parliament has been able to lobby for service delivery like road equipment, electricity connectivity and clean water from various ministries and agencies.
The memorandum of understanding that was read by the NRM district chairman, Philemon Mateke resolved to constitute an NRM task force in support of the flagbearers.
Secondly, they also agreed to invite all MPs from the district and other opinion leaders to identify any pending issues so as to amicably hand them ahead of campaigns.
Officials of NRM accompanied by their flagbearer, Kwizera Wagawungu shall address meetings of both women and youth leaders before winding up the campaign today with a meeting of members of the county conference drawn from all 7 sub-counties that make up Bukimbiri county.
