IUIU GRADUATION: Minister Kitutu Roots For Innovative Courses

The minister in charge of Karamoja Affairs, Mary Gorrette Kitutu has urged students to create innovative solutions to the challenges of the country more especially the economic and health challenges.

She made the remarks as over 2,000 students graduated from Islam University in Uganda for the 2020/2021 Academic Year.

Kitutu who represented the president at the ceremony held at Mbale main campus, implored IUIU and other institutions to be creative in their different courses so that students can be empowered with skills and innovations.

She said by introducing innovative courses, this will help students to be job creators, not job seekers.

Women dominated their male counterparts in performance, with Kwesiga Zaituni the overall best performer.

Zaituni graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education, majoring in Economics and Mathematics.

Namisindwa Woman Member Parliament, Hon Sarah Kayegi was among the graduands with a first-class degree in Social Works and Social Administration.

IUIU graduated 2278 students. 1169 are female and 1109 male. 127 received certificates, 279 graduated with diploma, 1592 graduated with undergraduate degrees, 89 received post graduate diploma and master graduates are 191.

The rector Islamic University in Uganda Professor Ismael Simbwa Gyagenda, advised students to put discipline at the forefront in everything they do so as to succeed in life.

 Among the graduates was the national chairperson of the women’s council Hajjat Faridah Kibowa who has graduated in masters of public administration.

She appealed to parents and guardians to always promote the plight of a girl child.
