Museveni To Address Ugandans On High Commodity Prices

1 Mins read

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is set to address Ugandans on the current economic situation this Saturday.

“@KagutaMuseveni will this Sunday May 22, 2022 at 8.pm address the Nation to update Ugandans on the current Economic situation. The address will be broadcast live from Nakasero State Lodge. Please save date & tune in, to all Television and Radios,” reads the tweet from President’s press secretary Linda Nabusayi.

It should be noted that the prices of commodities have increased in the recent time.

Fuel and soap prices have dominated the conversations among Ugandans prompting some opposition leaders to demonstrate.

Since the start of the year, prices of essential household commodities have been soaring with many people struggling to make ends meet. Although several people have been calling the government to make some intervention their calls are falling on deaf ears.

Government officials have attributed the increase in prices to the long-term effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the raging war in Ukraine.
