Minister Aceng Bows Out Of Speakership Race

Minister of Health, Hon Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero has withdrawn her expression of interest from the speakership race.

“I’ve taken a decision to withdraw my intention to stand for the Position of Speaker of

@Parliament_Ug. I have not had enough time to consult my party leadership, colleagues and family,” said Aceng in a tweet.

It should be noted that as of yesterday, NRM had received 13 candidates who are willing to replace speaker Jacob Oulanyah who died on Sunday last week.

The NRM candidates include; Deputy Attorney General Jackson Kafuuzi, Tororo Woman MP Sarah Opendi , Arua Central MP Jackson Atima, Dokolo South County MP Felix Okot, Lwemiyaga County MP Theodre Ssekikubo, West Budama South MP Jacob Oboth-Oboth, State minister for Sports, Denis Hamson Obua, Masindi District Woman MP Florence Akiiki Asiimwe and John Okot Amos.

NRM top organ the Central Executive Committee (CEC) is yet to decide on who they will front as next speaker.
