Health Minister Aceng Joins Race To Be Next Speaker

Health minister Jane Ruth Aceng has also joined the race to be the next speaker of Parliament.

The Nomination forms were picked by her personal assistant, George William Ssebamala.

She becomes the 12th NRM Member of Parliament to express her interest in the parliament’s top job.

Other NRM MPs that have expressed interest in the seat include, Deputy speaker, Anita Among, Deputy Attorney General Jackson Kafuuzi, Tororo Woman MP Sarah Opendi , Arua Central MP Jackson Atima, Dokolo South County MP Felix Okot, Lwemiyaga County MP Theodre Ssekikubo, West Budama South MP Jacob Oboth-Oboth, State minister for Sports, Denis Hamson Obua, Masindi District Woman MP Florence Akiiki Asiimwe and John Okot Amos.

While on the opposition ticket, Bugiri Municipality MP Asuman Basalirwa and Kira Municipality MP Ssemujju Nganda.

Parliament is expected to vote the new speaker come this Friday March 25, 2022.
