A 40-year-old man in Kagadi has hacked his wife to death before taking his own life. The deceased has only been identified as Busobozi, a resident of Kisankwa village in Kinyarugonjo sub-county.

Residents found his lifeless body on Wednesday evening dangling on a mango tree around 6 pm.

They informed the police, which picked the body and took it to Kagadi General hospital for postmortem.

The deceased has been on the police wanted list since Sunday last week for allegedly hacking his wife to death. It is alleged that Busobozi picked a quarrel with his wife, Mary Kyaligonza 35 on Sunday last week for an unknown reason.

He reportedly picked a panga that he used to severally hack Kyaligonza killing her instantly. Although residents rushed to save Kyaligonza’s life after sounding an alarm, it was too late to save her life. The residents found her lifeless body lying in a pool of blood.

Police teamed up with residents and launched a manhunt for Busobozi only to find his lifeless body hanging on a mango tree. Sayuni Businge, the female councillor for Kinyarugonjo parish in Kinyarugonjo Sub-County, says that both residents and leaders were shocked to find the lifeless body of the deceased.

She says after hacking his wife to death, the deceased could have feared being arrested and decided to end his life recklessly. Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, says that a team of detectives from Kagadi central police station visited the scene on Thursday morning.
