A brutal dispute over a woman has claimed the life of a man in Sembabule district. The gruesome incident happened at Nanseko village in Muyenga parish, Mabindo sub-county in Sembabule district on Sunday night.
The deceased is Kizito Ssemyalo, a pork joint operator in Nanseko village where he is also a resident. Two assailants waylaid Ssemyalo on his way home and clobbered him with clubs to death.
Joseph Ssenyondo, a neighbour who responded to the alarm, says that he found one Sserugo and Pasikale red-handed brutalizing the deceased on account of snatching Sserugo’s lover.
He says that upon reaching the scene, they rounded him up and flogged him several times telling him to stay out of their way.
Other residents intervened and subdued Sserugo but Pasikale managed to escape from the mob. Police arrived at the scene to rescue Sserugo from the mob that wanted to lynch him.
Ssenyondo was rushed to Sembabule Health Centre IV in critical condition. Paul Kabano, the Nanseko LCI Chairman has condemned the act and described it as a crime of passion.
Muhammad Nsubuga, the Southern Regional Police Spokesperson, says they are still looking for Pasikale and the woman said to be the cause of the problem.
He explains that the suspect will appear in court for murder once their file is completed. He adds that they will produce the suspects in court after thorough investigations.
