Uganda’s president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni together with Tanzania’s president, Samia Suluhu Hassan are set to grace the first ever Uganda Tanzania Oil & Gas Symposium.
The Symposium is happening today 27th November 2021 and will end tomorrow, 28th November 2021 in Dar es salaam, Tanzania.
Yesterday evening, the ambassador of Uganda to Tanzania, HE Amb. Richard Kabonero treated the guests from both countries to a dinner and cocktail at Dar es salaam Serena Hotel.
He used the opportunity to welcome everyone and highlighted on the importance of the symposium.
The private sector stakeholders from both Uganda and Tanzania will strategize on their involvement in the execution of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project.
Members from Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) and Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) will discuss the $3.5 billion project.
It is worth noting that It is expected that the 1,443km crude oil export pipeline that will
transport Uganda’s crude oil from Kabaale to Tanga in Tanzania will bring massive opportunities for the Private Sector including; transportation, securities, food and beverage, hotel accommodation and catering, Human Resource Management, office supplies, Civil works, Finance, the supply of construction materials and many more services.
This private sector led meeting will be a hybrid event which is expected to gather in person over 600 high-level private sector officials from Tanzania and Uganda and more than 2000 participants will follow the discussion virtually.
The Uganda, Tanzania Oil & Gas symposium aims at; providing a platform for networking, learning and sharing experiences and opportunities with the oil & gas industry projects, identifying key strategies that can enable partnerships and joint ventures between Ugandan and Tanzania private sector actors and above all facilitate public-private sector dialogue on issues that affect implementation of local content in the oil &gas industry projects.
