Victoria University Vice Chancellor Arrested

Victoria University Vice Chancellor, Dr Lawrence Muganga was yesterday arrested by security operatives from his office on Jinja Road, Kampala.

Dr Lawrence Muganga was put in a waiting drone and whisked away to unknown location at break neck speed.

UPDF Spokesperson Brig Flavia Byekwaso said that it is not true that Lawrence Muganga was kidnaped.

“Social media reports that Vice Chancellor Victoria University Dr Lawrence Muganga was kidnapped are false. He was arrested by joint Security Forces in connection with espionage and illegal stay in the country. Investigations into the matter have commenced,” tweeted Brig Flavia.

Victoria University is owned by Ugandan tycoon Dr Sudhir Ruparelia.

At the time of his arrest, Dr. Lawrence Muganga doubled as the Vice Chancellor and Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs of Victoria University.

He is an award-winning writer and author, researcher, educator, public policy practitioner, strategy advisor, development management Specialist and authentic learning enthusiast based in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.

Dr. Muganga earned his MA in Economic Policy Management from Makerere University and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Leadership from the University of Alberta, Canada.

Dr. Muganga holds a Higher Education Teaching Certification from Harvard University, Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning.

Dr. Muganga has extensively researched and written about a cutting-edge educational paradigm known as Authentic Learning, which, in short, means an education that prepares students for the real world by equipping them with real-life skills to face now and the future.
