The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has unveiled Serbian Multin Sredejovic alias Coach Micho as the Head Coach for the National football team, “The Cranes”.
FUFA announced last week that Micho will be the Uganda Cranes next head coach, filling a vacant post left by Johnathan McKinstry who was fired early this year.
While addressing the press, Micho who previously coached the same side, said he was a better version of himself and that he was back to be where he belongs.
“I am here pay back to the Ugandans because they have been part of my journey. I am an improved version of Coach Micho,” he said.
The Serbian wolf as he is fondly known, is credited for helping Uganda qualify for the African Nations Cup after a 40 year long wait.
Micho has appointed Livingstone Mbabazi as his first assistant and Fred Kajoba as goal keeping coach. Local coaches will not be attached to any local team. They will be joined by Ivan Ssewanyana (physiotherapist) and Geoffrey Massa (team manager).
Sredojevic, who quit the post four years ago in acrimony over $54,000 in unpaid wages, has signed a three-year contract which will take in the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar which start in September.
The Ugandan Football Federation (FUFA), keen to mend fences after the previous fallout with the Serbian, said the 51-year-old tactician was the right man to lead the Uganda Cranes after the team’s failure to qualify for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon, pushed back to January 2022.
