The Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) Deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire has revealed that the force has in its custody 37 people.
They were arrested on Sunday night in a bar in Luzira on the outskirts of Kampala.
“37 people have been arrested today for flaunting COVID-19 guidlines on bars . The operation was carried out in Luzira at Samaki Hub and floating Island . They are currently detained at Jinja Road Police and will be arraigned in court tomorrow,” Luke said.
Uganda is under a lockdown with 7pm curfew as part of measures put in place to limit the spread of COVID19.
In a related development, police have warned those planning demonstrations saying they will not allow them to flout Ministry of Health measures to prevent spread ofbthe disease.
