Gov’t To Give Mobile Money Instead of Food To Vulnerable – PM Nabbanja

The Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has revealed that government will give cash handouts instead of food to the vulnerable.

While announcing a total lockdown on Friday evening, President Yoweri Museveni said the Premier and the National COVID-19 task force would work out modalities to help the most vulnerable people.

“We have decided that any support that will be provided to the persons most affected by the lockdown will be through cash tokens and not physical food distribution,” Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja said in Sunday.

She was addressing the press after the task force sat to harmonise efforts to implement the lockdown measures put in place to control the spread of COVID-19.

Last year, the government gave out food to Kampala and Wakiso District residents when the first lockdown qas announced.

Nabbanja said the cash will be given through Mobile Money.
