Rwanda Hands Over Abducted UPDF Solider

Rwanda Defence Forces has handed over a UPDF officer who was abducted few days ago, Ug Mirror reports.

It is said that on 12 June 2021, Pte Bakuru Muhuba attached to the 35 battalion in Kisoro District was arrested by RDF officers as he Patrolled the border.

However, RDF says that he was arrested because he was found on Rwandan soil.

“On 12 June 21, at approximately 1445hrs, an RDF Day patrol intercepted a Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) soldier identified as Pte Bakuru MUHUBA who was on Rwandan soil in Northern Province, Burera District, Cyanika sector, Kamanyana cell, Majyambere village,” reads the statement issued by RDF on 13 June 2021.

The statement further reads that; “He was dressed in UPDF camouflage uniform, armed with a Medium Machine Gun (MMG) with its 100 rounds, 01 Binocular, 01 cell phone and his military Identification documents. RDF is in the process of repatriating him.”

Yesterday evening, RDF  handed over Pte Bakuru Muhuba to UPDF with his belongings
