MP-elect Magogo Declares Intentions To Retain FUFA President Job, Bashes ‘Shitty’ Cranes

Incumbent FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo on Tuesday declared intentions to contest as head of the football governing body in Uganda.

Mr. Magogo revealed this during the Quarterly FUFA-Media engagement held at Jevine Hotel in Rubaga, Kampala.

He started by indicating that the current term will come to an end in August this year and thereafter confirmed his intention to seek for a third stint.

‘FUFA elections have begun and my term as the President of the Federation comes to an end on the 31st of August 2021. I am going to stand for another term.  I told you when the right moment comes, I will announce and this is the time to declare,’ he revealed.

Having assumed power in 2013, the incumbent President believes he has the experience and ideas to take the game to another level given the added benefit of being a Member of Parliament.

Magogo was elected MP for Budiope East in January to the 11th Parliament.

‘I believe we have the ideas and experience. Going to Parliament helps football because there are certain things that we can only get in Parliament. We have done our first and second phase and now we want to go the third phase which is going to the 2026 FIFA World Cup’ said Magogo.

He also took time to bash performance of players saying he is not solely to blame for the team’s failure to qualify for AFCON 2021. Magogo singled out the recent CAF African Nations Championship.

“We may only look at the game against Malawi but how did we play in the rest of the games across the entire campaign? Six games played but we scored only three goals but somehow Magogo deserves the blame. Look at our performance at CHAN, absolutely shitty. And when they return, they are demanding for money, what did they play?” Magogo wondered.
