Sheikh Kasule Ndirangwa has resigned as Supreme Mufti of Kibuli-based Muslim faction.

Ndirangwa cited infighting at the Kibuli based Muslim faction as his reason for stepping down.

“I cannot continue fighting with my fellow leaders, i have decided to resign and give chance to others to lead. I ask God to guide my colleagues to accomplish what i have not,” Ndirangwa said in a televised address.

Ndirangwa leaves the post after six years. He was named Mufti in December 2015, replacing Sheikh Zubair Kayongo who passed away in April of the same year at Agha Khan Hospital in Tanzania.
