1 Mins read

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni on Saturday received his first COVID19 Vaccination jab, silencing skeptics.

Museveni took the the first of two doses together with the First Lady Janet Museveni, at State House Nakasero in Uganda’s capital, Kampala.

The development rounds off a successful week of vaccinations that also saw lawmakers both, outgoing and newly elected get vaccinated against the deadly disease.

I wish to congratulate H.E the President @KagutaMuseveni and the First Lady, Maama @JanetMuseveni who have just been vaccinated against COVID-19 with the AstraZeneca vaccine. I urge the population to embrace this vaccine as it is safe and effective,” Health Minister, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng said after the excercise.

Clad in military fatigue, Museveni was injected on the left upper arm.

The news dispells rumors and previous reports that he and his inner circle had been vaccinated long before the doses arrived in the country.
