TRAGIC! 32 People Confirmed Dead In Kasese – Fort Portal Highway Accident Involving 5 Vehicles

A grisly accident along the Kasese – Fort Portal highway in western Uganda has left 32 people dead, according to the Uganda Red Cross Society.

URCS tweeted that the accident involved five vehicles along the Hima – Rugendabara road at Kihogo – Kasese.

The Uganda Police and army are helping URCS to respond to the tragic incident that is said to have occurred after a collision between an omnibus and truck. The truck is said to have been loaded with passengers at the time of the accident.

Reports indicate that some of the injured have been rushed to nearby medical facilities including Kilembe Hospital.

Irene Nakasiita, the head of communications at Uganda Red Cross, told this website that all the dead and injured had been taken to Kilembe Hospital adding that they were clearing the accident site.
