NRM Sends Ragga Dee To Throw Lukwago Out Of Kampala

1 Mins read

The NRM Electoral Commission has declared singer turned politician Daniel Kazibwe aka Ragga Dee as the duly elected party flag bearer for the Kampala City Mayoral race in the forthcoming general elections.

The tight race was between the Ragga Dee and Ssebaana Kizito.

The registrar of Rubaga division Kato Robert declared Ragga Dee after reading results from all divisions in Kampala.

Kazibwe garnered 56,877 and Kizito scooped 15,939.

“I therefore declare Kazibwe Daniel who has pulled the highest number of 56,877 votes representing 78.1% as the duly elected NRM flag bearer for Kampala Lord Mayor,” Kato announced on Friday.

Kazibwe’s declaration comes after a vote recount process that gave him 78.1% over his competitor Kizito with 21.9%.

According to Jane Alisimera, NRM Electoral Commission head, the election of Lord Mayors in the NRM primaries had a lot of issues and complaints from both aspirants that forced the commission not to announce the winner on the day of voting.

She said this was due to issues which were emanating from declaring forms.

“So we have been tallying and eventually we came up with the winner,” she said.

Speaking after announcement of the results, Kazibwe appreciated his supporters who trusted him and promised them to fulfil his commitment.

“I am ready to work for the people of Kampala and we need to look for ways on how things are going to be clear in Kampala,” he said.
