Lightning Strikes 10 Teenagers Dead in Arua

Today, 10 children in Arua were struck by lightning and they unfortunately died.

9 of the children aged between 13 to 15 years died on spot while the another died on the way to hospital.

The children were playing football and they decided to go find shade in a grass thatched structure as they waited for the rain to stop.

The incident took place at Odramacaku football pitch in the West Division of Arua.

Since the rainy season begun, there has been a lot of thunder coupled with lightning in Arua.

Amongst the children who were playing, only three survived and are currently under going treatment at Arua Regional referral hospital.

This is the worst kind of lightning related deaths that Uganda has since 2011, when 18 children were killed at a school.
