Police Headquarters Closed Due To Increasing COVID-19 Cases

Today, police Headquarters and national command centre in Naguru have been closed off to the pubic and to other staff.

According to the Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, the offices have been closed due to the increasing threat of COVID-19 infections and deaths in the Kampala Metropolitan area.

“The duration under which our headquarters is closed is three days. That is when the process of decontamination, fumigation and testing of personnel shall have been concluded,” said Enanga

In the three days, the police officers working at the headquarters will all be tested and eventually police officers country wide will also be tested. 

Enanga also revealed that most of the officers operating in Kampala Metropolitan have ben tested as well as those in Isingiro, Jinja and Masindi districts.

Over the weekend, AIGP Asan Kasingye confirmed to being COVID-19 so it is possible that some of the staff in police have the virus.

Enganga also said it is important to test police officers because they come into contact with the public.
