Koboko Municipality MP and State Minister for Investment, Evelyn Anite, has said the opposition has infiltrated NRM in Koboko through Dr. Charles Ayume who is also contesting for the position of Koboko Municipality MP.
Her remarks followed the recent violence that broke up in Koboko town which led to the burning of bill-boards and smashing Anite’s windows at home.
The incident was largely blamed on bitter rivalry between her supporters and those of her opponents and alleged partiality of the police.
However, while speaking during the the party National Delegates Conference on Tuesday, Anite said although opponents are “fighting” with her billboards and voters, NRM in Koboko is very strong and she is not worried about infiltration.
She accused Ayume as one of the opponents behind the ugly act of defacing her posters which she called a cowardice act.
“The Opponents we have are straight opponents supported by the opposition so as NRM delegates come here, they know who is NRM and they know that NRM has been infiltrated,” Anite said.
She claimed that Ayume is from the opposition even though he was duly nominated by NRM electoral commission.
“We call some people NRM rebels. People know that for them to win elections ,they have to be nominated under NRM. There are many people in the opposition who have come to pick our flag, “she said.
She said Ayume is an opposition because he is being supported by all the members who are against the ruling party.
“Like the Bible says that not everyone who says Lord ,Lord will enter the kingdom of God. Not everyone who says is NRM is actually NRM at heart.Opposition is supporting him,” she said.
Anite said she knows very well that her opponents were defeated in the last elections therefore she is also ready to win them this time round.
“They were four of them who came and contested against me. All combined they only got 1000 votes and those votes are nothing to us. We know we will crush them.We will defeat them,” said Anite.
She said her voters in the district are going to discipline her opponents by voting her overwhelmingly.
Ug Mirror ‘s effort to get the comment from Dr. Charles Ayume were futile.
