Churches Should Be Included in National Budget- Kazimba

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu has said that the church should be included in development activities in the national budget.

His comments come days after meeting the Coordinator of the Operation Wealth Creation has promised shs 60 billion to be injected in various wealth creation and income generating projects for Anglican Church Bishops.

On Wednesday, the House of Bishops of the Anglican Church of Uganda led by Archbishop Samuel Kaziimba met with Operation Wealth Creation officials at Kawanda Research Institute.

Among the issues discussed include was the importance of wealth creation is crucial to the men of God and other Christians as an aspect of security in addition to how the church be reconstructed.

During Sunday service at his home in Namirembe on Sunday, Kaziimba said that the discussion was meant to devise ways of supporting the church through partnerships. “We have been advocating that the government ensures that they include us in the national budget because we are doing a lot to develop our country,” said Kaziimba.

He said that Christians also contribute to the development of this country noting that where there is unused land,it must develop it.
” I am so grateful to those who have been supporting us in this area and we got some tractors and seedlings in order to support our people in the rural areas,” Kaziimba said. 

Kaziimba said  that the church cannot just look on as people starve yet there is idle land that can be used hence inviting everyone to join the campaign for developing the church. “We are stakeholders and that’s why we call upon people to take their children for immunization, to be sensitive about COVID -19 and HIV/AIDs. So we are called to work together,” he noted.
