Police Arrest NRM Aspirant For Violating COVID-19 Guidelines

Police in Kween has arrested an aspirant for member of Parliament under NRM ticket for flouting presidential directives and Ministry of Health guidelines.

According to the spokesperson Sipi Region, Chesanga Fredmark Chemutai, Wilfred Kireny was arrested at Binyiny Town Council while conducting unlawful procession.

“The suspect is currently detained at Kapchorwa Police Station as inquiries are ongoing. He will appear in court when inquiries are complete,” he said.

He advised all aspirants to follow the presidential directives and ministry of health standard operating procedures.

Several government ministers and NRM leaning politicians have been under fire for violating the presidential directives and the ministry of health SOPs.

Recently, the top leadership committee of Police also summoned Koboko District Police Commander over the recent political procession allegedly organised by State Minister for Investment and Privatisation Evelyn Anite.

The summons followed a video clip that made rounds on social media showing hundreds of her supporters in Koboko municipality marching and chanting Anite’s name in disregard of COVID-19 measures.

Others who have been violating the rules  include, Health minister, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, the state minister for Kampala, Benah Namugwanya and the vice chairperson NRM Eastern Uganda, Mike Mukula among others.
