Kajwenje Out Of Ibanda District LC 5 Race

Ibanda District LC 5 chairman, Melichiadis KaJwenje has quit the race of seeking re-election in the coming 2021 elections due to medical reasons.

He revealed this while appearing on a political talk show on one of the local radio stations in Ibanda town.

“This issue, I didn’t want it to be a rumour. I kept it as a secret such that I tell you at the right time,” said Kajwenje before apologizing to his voters and campaign agents that; “I am also concerned but I ask for forgiveness because you put in your effort and time to mobilize for me.”

“I appreciate your support and I know you love me but remember you will love me when I am alive.

“It is useless to remain in politics when my health is not okay. So, you will forgive me and I will call all of you at tell you the way forward.”

Kajwenje also thanked the people of Ibanda for trusting him for the past 15years he has been the chairman of the district.

With Kajwenje pulling out, Ibanda district speaker, Happy Herbart Mayanja will now tussle it out with Fredric Mutabaruka for district’s top job.

It is worth noting that Kajwenje is a brother to the minister of Karamoja Affairs, Hon Eng John Byabagambi.

Ibanda District is located in Southwestern Uganda.

It borders with the districts of Mbarara to the South, Kiruhura to the East, Buhweju to the west and Kamwenge to the North.

The District has total surfaces area of 967 Km2.

The district lies on an altitude of 1800 metres above sea level.

The district has 8 Sub counties, 4 town councils and 1 municipal Council, 46 parishes and 590 Villages.
