COVID-19 Enters Uganda Prisons

Uganda Prisons has recorded its first COVID-19 case, Ug Mirror reports.

This was revealed by the spokesperson of Uganda Prisons Services, Frank Baine while addressing the media in Kampala.

“I am here to inform the nation that on Monday, the suspect whom was in isolation in our isolation center in Kawuti prison, Namutumba, eastern Uganda and by the close of business on Monday, results came and he was found positive,” said Baine.

Baine also revealed that by the time of testing, the patient was already in isolation.

“Fortunately, he was in isolation and at the same time his people had secured his release from prison but because of what is going on, we were not able to hand him over to his relatives but to the ministry of Health and is being treated in Jinja.”

It is worth noting that Uganda currently has 665 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 119 have so far recovered.
