Commissioner for Customs, Dicksons Kateshumbwa has thrown in a towel after spending 14years at the tax body, URA.

“I have decided to take early exit from @URAuganda after 14 years of service. Coincidentally my tenure as WCO Council Chair ends in June hence no seeking re-election. Proud of the all-round leadership service in Tax and Customs. 18 reforms in Customs in 5yrs, no regrets,” tweeted Kateshumbwa.

He also added that, “To the Director Generals of Customs around the world, thank you for entrusting me with responsibility to lead the WCO. Despite the Covid pandemic, we have remained on duty at the borders and kept the Secretariat functioning with visibility. When it’s all done, see u in Brussels.”

Sources have revealed that Kateshumbwa and other commissioners and senior staff were forced to resign.

This comes just a few months after the sacking of URA’s Commissioner General, Doris Akol.

President Yoweri Museveni then appointed John Musinguzi Rujoki as new Uganda Revenue Authority Commissioner General replacing the fired Doris Akol
