President Yoweri Museveni has promised to record a video of himself doing exercise to demonstrate to Ugandans how they can do it at home.
Museveni said this on Wednesday while addressing the country on the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The other day I saw people at the northern bypass in large numbers, exercising,” Museveni said.
He added, “If I had enough room here, I would show you. I am going to record a video of me exercising to show you that it can be done at home.”
“Whenever I come back home and find mama Janet sleeping, I do my exercise, running around.”
His remarks followed videos clips and photos of people jogging in groups along the northern bypass.
Last week, the president banned gatherings of more than five people to avoid the spread of coronavirus.
On Wednesday, Museveni also warned security forces against beating people as they try to enforce his guidelines.
Museveni has ordered the arrest of politicians trying to get involved in the distribution of food, saying it endangers health.
“Arrest them, charge them, no bail,” Museveni said.
Last weekend, government begun distributing food to some of the country’s most vulnerable.
The president also urged landlords not to evict tenants.
