Buganda kingdom signed a memorandum of understanding with the ministry of health to work together in fighting HIV/AIDS.
The Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga who signed the agreement on behalf of the kingdom noted that investing in infrastructure and industries will be a waste of time if health is not prioritized.
“The government is interested in industries, we see industries being commissioned everyday but all these will come to nothing if health isn’t the priority, one on our agenda,” he said.
He said whoever thinks to take the country to the middle income status he or she must start with health. “Whoever desires, plans or works to take the kingdom to its rightful place must start with health, so this agreement which we have signed is very important,” he said.
The minister of health in Buganda Kingdom Dr. Prosporus Nakindu Kavuma said the partnership will focus more on sensitizing the mass on preventive measures of HIV virus.
Richard Kabanda, the acting commissioner in charge of health promotion on behalf of the ministry of health said the MOU focuses on larger perspective of preventing the virus.
