Police Warns Opposition Politicians Over Violation Of Law

Police has cautioned opposition politicians against violation of the law especially the Public Order Management act

While addressing the media at the police headquarters in Kampala on Monday, the force’s spokesperson Fred Enanga said politicians who intend to reach out to the people should always follow the law.

He said the force will not allow ill intended politicians who are after gaining political mileage through unlawful means.

“We shall use whatever minimum but necessary force including teargas to arrest some of the offenders who are not following the guidelines that were issued by Electoral Commission,” he said.

He also revealed that the force is closely monitoring the consultative meetings of the presidential aspirants who were cleared by the electoral commission to conduct their meetings a head of the 2021 general elections.

It should be noted that the Electoral Commission cleared six presidential aspirants to conduct consultative meetings while coordination with the police for proper safety of the public

 Enanga said that police is monitoring the consultative meetings of the the presidential aspirants because some of them have failed to notify the police about their meetings  and instead put them on social media.

He said Police  will continue to gather intelligence about the public gatherings of politicians where they will continue to use all the means including teargas to disperse them once they are organized illegally.

However, Enanga said the force is  willing to police  all public gatherings of politicians especially the presidential aspirants who cooperate with the force  during their preparation.
