Museveni Presides Over Supreme Court Judges Swearing-In

Three newly appointed Supreme Court Judges and one Principal Judge have been sworn to office at a ceremony presided over by President Yoweri Museveni at State House, Entebbe.

The 3 Supreme Court Judges include Justices Mike Chibita, Lady Justice Percy Tuheise and Justice Ezekiel Muhanguzi. Dr. Flavia Zeija, Pricipal Judge has replaced retired Justice Yorokamu Bamwiine.

President Museveni was happy to note that the Judiciary has come a long way adding that the first African Chief Justice was imported from Nigeria in the 1960s.

“I am very happy that God and history have given me the opportunity of participating in rebuilding the judiciary of Uganda,” he said.

He stressed the need for discussion with the judiciary to chart a way forward to harmonizing positions concerning matters of law on different areas of interst.

He congratulated the new Principal Judge, Zeija and the entire judiciary team upon their new appointments. He also commended Justice Bamwiine for shpharding the High Court for a long time.

Chief Justice, Bart Katureebe, thanked President Museveni for his continued support to the Judiciary.

He congratulated the new Principal Judge and welcomed him to the High Court.

He asked the Supreme Court Judges to be committed because their new appointments come with new demanding tasks.

Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Hon. Ephraim Kamuntu congratulated the new Judges and expressed optimism that the team will execute their duties to the expectations of the appointing authority and all Ugandans in general.
