Police in Kampala have apprehended a group of youths who call themselves “The Alternative”.
The group who were dressed in black overalls and armed with megaphones, the activists under the auspices of Black Monday were arrested along Kampala road and Entebbe road during their anti corruption campaign termed as “ the real corruption walk”.
These groups of activists paralyzed business in Kampala for some minutes until police came in to rescue the situation.
The youth were demonstrating to show their dissatisfaction in the increasing cases of corruption in the country.
The duty Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire confirmed the arrest of these section of youth.
“They have all been arrested charged with inciting violence and currently detained at Central police station as we await for them to be arraign before the courts of law,” he said.
He further noted that the force is investigating a possibility of their officers who claimed they were assaulted by these groups of youth.
