The Opposition Should Unite to Win 2021 General Elections, Urges MP Muhammad Nsereko

2 Mins read

The Kampala Central MP Muhammad Nsereko has said that the divided opposition will mean defeat unless opposition front a single candidate  to complete with president Museveni come 2021.

“Let us know that if we are divided and facing that uphill task, it will be impossible for us to come up the challenge that will defeat the incumbent,” he said.

He made the remarks while appearing on NBS morning Breeze on Monday.

“With the security apparatus in the side  of this government the way it is and the recruitment of cadres. People think that the recruitment of LDUs is to guard them, these are going to be at the polling stations, mark my word,” he said.

Nsereko also noted that Ugandans should expect  LDUs to man  polling stations come 2021 noting that  there will be further recruitment of the unit and constables  before the end of  2020.

“Divided opposition means defeat a hundred percentage. We have to consolidate what we have. If we unite we are going to make president Museveni take a run for his money,” he said.

He said the opposition has gone in to fight it’s own self that can only give lee way for president Museveni  to consolidate power base and then come to eat on the  mantle.

He said there are very many challenges with the opposition and every opportunity to come up with a United opposition front has been thwarted by the internal conflicts.

He further added that the  issue of jumping on every bandwagon that comes around  will not take Ugandans  anywhere more especially when it  consistently carry on a message that doesn’t yield results.

“There is nothing too late in a struggle. We still have over 12 months to go whether it is Besigye or Kyagulanyi none of them can single handledly win the election,” he said.

He also said that disunity among the opposition will split the strongholds hence giving president Museveni a chance  to win the election again.

“I am going to tell Besigye that we are stronger together and the issues ahead of us is the completion of the struggle. No one is kicking out of the struggle if he still needs to be a presidential candidate he needs to let the country know earlier,” he said.

He added that people power can only prosper in the urban areas where it has only predominantly been opposition.

“There is hardly any change to see it in the rural areas unless we have a United Front of opposition,” he said.
