1 Mins read

Former Forum for Democratic Change president, Rtd Col Dr Kizza Besigye has on Thursday warned president Museveni of appearing again on the ballot paper in 2021.

While addressing media at his home in Kisangati, Besigye said that Museveni is holding the office illegally because he forcefully took the   office as the winner as well as rigging the elections nevertheless, he is now working hard to see him out of that office by 2021.

“President Museveni is in the office illegitimately and he should not be in office because I defeated him in the last elections,” he said.

Besigye further said that he had evidence to the effect unfortunately president Museveni could not allow him to present that evidence elsewhere because he was locked and barred from moving out.

Besigye said the challenge of this country is not a change of leadership but the change of system.

“What I am focusing on is not becoming a leader but what I am focusing on today is what have been telling Ugandans that Museveni should leave the office that he holds it illegitimately,” he roared.

Besigye stated that President Museveni should never appear on the ballot paper again come 2021.

He also explained that he doesn’t care to be president of this country so long as there is capable leader who can take this country forward.

He promised to be part of the struggle that will remove president Museveni from office in 2021.

So far two leaders have come to express their interest to contest in 2021, Democratic party president Hon Nobert Mao and the president Museveni has been of recent endorsed by NRM caucus to stand in 2021 as NRM sole candidate.

It’s not clear whether opposition will unit to bring only one candidate in race to compete with president Museveni

For the case of Dr Kizza Besigye everyone is waiting whether he will come again in 2021 as a presidential candidate or to support another candidate.

If Dr Kizza Besigye comes back in this coming race, this will be his fifth time struggling for the highest office in the land.
