The former flying squad boss Herbert Muhangi has been re-arrested and driven to unknown detention from court premises immediately after he was granted bail.
The General court martial chaired by Lt General Andrew Gutti had released on the bail ACP Herbert Muhangi, the former police Flying Squad boss.
Muhangi requested for bail for over Seven months after he was suffering from stomach ulcers as he needed extra medical attention.
Lt Gen. Andrew Gutti, the General Court Martial chairman accepted to release Muhangi on Tuesday on a non-cash bail of Shs10million because Gutti was satisfied with all the sureties presented by Muhangi.
Gutti also stated that Muhangi has been a long-serving high-ranking officer who has never been convicted of any criminal offence.
Muhangi was also ordered not to leave Kampala without permission from the court and report twice every month to army Court’s registry as part of bail condition.
Unfortunately, he was picked by soldiers of Uganda People’s Defence Forces outside Court Martial premises in Makindye and dragged into military double cabin before being driven to unidentified destination.
Muhangi is among seven officers who served under former Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura.
Muhangi was apprehended in June 2018 and is facing charges of failure to protect war materials, kidnap and repatriation of Rwandan Refugees that included Innocent Kaliisa, Jackson Karemera and Joel Mutabaazi between 2010 and 2018.
Its alleged that the jailed officers illegally issued guns to former Boda-boda 2010 boss Abdallah Kitatta
