Sswanyana Arrested Over Staging Unlawful Protest

Security officers have on Monday 18th arrested Makindye West Member of Parliament Allan Ssewanyana over organizing a protest against the alarming poor hygiene at Kiruddu hospital.

According to the residents, for many months they have been complaining about the sewage and stench from the hospital.

The legislator was forcefully dragged in a police car and driven to Nagamala police station on allegations of spearheading unlawful protest against deteriorating Health status of the government owned hospital, Kiruddu.

During his arrest, he stated that there is no reason why he can’t speak to his people who have complaints to be addressed.

His supporters tried to stop police from apprehending him all in vain

 Police accused Hon Allan Sswanyana for forcefully attempting to lock down the Mulago Satellite Kiruddu Hospital.

Hon Allan Ssewanyana arrived at the hospital armed with a chain to close the hospital but unfortunately, he was blocked by security officers and immediately apprehended and currently under police detention.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the arrest of the legislator and said they could not allow staging of unlawful protest and interference with hospital activities that receives hundreds of patients who need urgent treatment and medical attention.

“You know very well that facility accommodates hundreds of patients, the Hon Ssewanyana forcefully attempted to lock the hospital, meaning he was putting lives of patients at stake. This unacceptable and we couldn’t allow him continue with such disrespectful act thus arresting him,” Onyango stated.
