
The Inspector General of police Martin Okoth Ochola has on Monday 21st January 2019 launched the National Command and ICT Research centre at Police Headquarters in Naguru, a structure under the CCTV cameras project.
“The command centre structure is the heart of C4I that is the command, Control, Communication, Coordination and Cooperation with sister security agencies.
“It is where the video data and voice of the CCTV and other systems will be monitored from.
“Therefore, it is a vital structure that will house a critical installation,” Ochola explained

During the same function, construction of ICT research and innovation centre at Kikandwa, Wakiso was also launched.
He added that The ICT research and innovation will be a hub of ICT innovation for security agencies and all software will be in house developed from the centre and then systems deployed basing on software developed by their own officers.
The structure is part of safety city project that stated in June 2018. It will house the main control units of the system which include crime monitoring centre.

It is equipped with computers in the four laboratories with each having more than 60 seats to facilitate electronic learning for Police officers.
The construction of the two structures is slated to take eight months and it’s being done by Huawei technologies limited.
IGP Martin Okoth Ochola thanked president Museveni for supporting CCTV project as a way of closing the security gaps in the country.
