Katuntu Should Prepare To Handover Office To Munyagwa — Ssemujju

Kira Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda has on Wednesday 2nd Jan 2019 urged Hon Abdu Katuntu to prepare and hand Over to Hon Mubrak Munyagwa this January 2019.

Abdu Katuntu is the chairperson of Parliamentary Committee of Commissions Statuary   Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE)

Mr Katuntu’s current committee leadership was meant to expire on January 16, 2019 but the speaker Rebecca Kadaga extended its tenure to February 20, 2019 to allow them conclude their current investigation into the closure of several commercial banks by Bank of Uganda.

Ssemujju Nganda disagrees with Hon Rebecca Kadaga’s extension of Abdu Katuntu tenure and stated that he has done a very commendable work unfortunately the rules don’t allow the extension of his tenure.

“As a chief whip I am waiting for parliament to start next week and I organize for Katuntu to handover to Munyagwa,” he added

Ssemujju says the unfortunate thing is that people don’t know committee of Parliament have up to 35 members.

“I have finished making recommendation for people who will sit on COSASE,” he stated

He further said that Hon Katuntu and his committee should know that their team has come to an end and should prepare to handover to Hon Munyagwa with either an interim or partial report and help him complete the process by pointing out area they have not touched

“Hon Abdu Katuntu is a fantastic lawyer but you can’t say because he is such a fantastic lawyer, his term should not come to an end,” he said

Hon Abdu Katuntu is a practicing lawyer and member of forum for Democratic Change and he represents the people of Bugweri county.
