Deputy IGP Roots For Gender Equality

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Brig General Sabiiti Muzeyi has called upon all the police officers to be more gender responsive in order to improve and participate to the success of Justice for women.

During an official launch of Force’s gender policy at Railway ground in Kampala on Friday 7th December 2018, he said that Uganda Police Officers can only achieve and attain its inspiration by ensuring justice for all particularly women and girls.

 He said that the police force will have toreview its human resource practices in order to work towards mitigating anderadicating violence against women and girls.

“Uganda police force has taken steps to address specific gender issues in policing in Uganda and internal concerns regarding discrimination, lack of opportunity and quality for women and men who serve in the force.”

“The adoption of this gender policy is an opportunity to have targeted, structure and consistent intervention to make the Uganda police force a more gender responsive and gender equal institution.”

He also said that they are well aware of the fact that there are many issues that need to be addressed and require UPDF to begin from the basics for instance increasing the number of women in the force.
