Uganda has expelled an American national Jacqueline Wolfson for violating immigration laws.
“This is to inform the public that Jacqueline Wolfson holding a tourist visa, but passing as a charity giver under #ShuleFoundation has been removed from Uganda for violation of immigration laws.
“Further, there is no record at immigration that Jacqueline Wolfsom has ever applied for a work permit since 2014 when she has been visiting Uganda” said the Uganda government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo who is also the Executive Director, Uganda Media Centre.
Recently, Human rights lawyer Nicholas Opio revealed that Last Saturday, Wolfsom was arrested by what he termed as security operatives over suspicions that she was funding Bobi Wine under her NGO, ShuleFoundation.
“Wolfson of the Shule Foundation was this evening (Saturday) arrested by people believed to be from the Ugandan security. It is still unclear where she is being detained,” tweeted Opio.
Upon reaching home, Wolfson tweeted that she is safe and greatful to KLM staff that treated her well while on the plane.
This comes at a time when president Museveni warned foreign countries to stop poking their noses in Ugandan issues.
“What superior intelligence do you have to think that you can understand the problem in my house better that we the occupants. If there is a problem in our house, we the occupants will solve it. Keep out. It is also practically wrong because outsiders cannot have enough information about a foreign situation,” said Museveni
